Age verification

Age verification covers the store until the visitor confirms they are old enough: with a yes or no, or by entering their date of birth. Visitors who are too young see a message or are sent to another website. Use it if you sell products with a legal age limit.

It is off until you turn it on with Enable.

Important

Age verification asks visitors to confirm their age. It does not check an ID, so it does not replace any legal duty to verify age at checkout or delivery. Check what the law requires where you sell.

Find it in the editor

Age verification is in the Overlay group in the sidebar. Click it to show it in the preview while you edit it.

Section settings

General

Setting	Description
Enable	Covers every page of the store until the visitor answers.
Color scheme	The colors of the screen. Schemes are edited in Theme settings → Colors.

Layout

Setting	Description
Layout	Centered card over the dimmed store, a Card with image, or a Full screen image with the card on top.
Image	The picture. Shown unless Layout is Centered card.
Show logo	Shows your logo from Theme settings → Logo and branding at the top of the card.

Content

Setting	Description
Minimum age	The age visitors must have reached (13–30). It replaces {age} wherever you write it in the texts.
Heading	The question, for example Are you {age} or older?
Description	A line under the heading.
Fine print	Small text at the bottom, for example a link to your terms.

How to check

Setting	Description
Method	Ask yes or no shows two buttons; Ask for date of birth asks for the date and works out the age.
Confirm label	The text of the "yes" button. Shown when Method is Ask yes or no.
Decline label	The text of the "no" button. Shown when Method is Ask yes or no.
Button label	The text of the button under the date. Shown when Method is Ask for date of birth.

If they are too young

Setting	Description
Then	Show a message in place of the question, or Send them elsewhere to another website.
Heading	The message's heading. Shown when Then is Show a message.
Description	The message. Shown when Then is Show a message.
Redirect to	The full address to send them to, for example https://www.google.com. Shown when Then is Send them elsewhere.

Remember the answer

Setting	Description
For	This visit only asks again on the next visit; A number of days remembers the answer for as long as you set below.
Days	How many days to remember the answer (1–90). Shown when For is A number of days.
