Countries and languages
When you sell to more than one country, or in more than one language, Vellure shows selectors where customers choose their country, which also sets their currency, and their language.
1. Set up your countries and languages
- Countries and currencies: in the Shopify admin, go to Settings → Markets and add the countries you sell to. Each market can sell in its own currency.
- Languages: go to Settings → Languages, add a language and publish it. Your store's own content, such as product descriptions, is translated with Shopify's free Translate & Adapt app.
Vellure's own wording, such as Add to cart or Sold out, already comes translated into English, French, German, Italian, Spanish, Japanese and Dutch. See Translate the theme.
2. Show the selectors
Turn the selectors on in any of these places:
| Where | Setting |
|---|---|
| The announcement bar, on screens from 1280px | Announcement bar → Show language and country selectors, in the Slideshow style |
| The bottom bar under the footer | Bottom bar → Show country and language |
| The menu drawer on phones | Header → Show country and language |
Each selector appears only when there is something to choose: the country selector when you sell in more than one country, and the language selector when more than one language is published. With more than eight countries, the country selector has a search box.
Tip
On a phone, the bottom bar and the menu drawer are where customers look for these. Turning on both covers every screen size.
